About Us
January 3, 2009 – “Who could have guessed that offering a fellow traveler a ride to the next town would change our lives forever.” – Julie
We met in a Nashville youth hostel when Joerg was a few weeks into his 3-month USA backpacking journey and Julie was 3 months into her 9-month USA road trip. It started with the usual questions “Where are you from, where are you going” etc. and within 5 minutes they were exchanging emails and Julie was offering Joerg a ride to the next city to save bus fare.
They met up in Memphis again and hung out a couple times and then left together for the 6 hour drive to New Orleans. It was half way into this drive when …
Joerg Rosenthal
Joerg was born in Germany, but with a population of over 80 million, it was still too small to keep Joerg still. He spent years travelling to all corners of Europe on his motorcycle (BMW R65), is his VW California Camper Van and later his customized VW LT camper. He frequented the south of France, the west coast of Ireland and the islands of Greece with Wind Surfing equipment in tow watching the waves and waiting for the wind.
Eventually, it was time to venture across the pond and finally see the America only known to him from the news and movies. It was a life changing trip which ultimately brought him to Canada with Julie.
His passions (besides windsurfing), are Photography, Web Design and Graphic Design. He is fortunate to have a business that offers these services, so he gets to spend his days doing what he loves. His business website is here.
Joerg lives by the motto “Never Make Yourself Too Comfortable.”

Julie Rosenthal
From birth in Hamilton ON to her current life on Vancouver Island BC Canada it was obvious that Julie was meant to keep moving. In her youth she had three life goals; see an ocean, go skydiving, and go backpacking in Europe. By age 29 she had achieved them all and was eager to keep going. The travel bug had hit hard.
In 2008, Julie made the decision to sell everything and travel. She would start with a 6-month road trip through the USA and then a walk of the 800km Camino de Santiago in Spain. There were no other plans after that. She just wanted to see where life would take her.
Today, she lives on Vancouver Island with Joerg and has her own Virtual Assistant business. The business is a perfect fit as it still allows the freedom to travel while still helping her customers with their business needs. Her business website is here.
She lives by the motto: “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” – George Eliot
