September is coming to a close and it has been great being back in the horseshoe again.  We jumped right into action during Labour day weekend and took in the Burlington Rib fest and dinner with my parents.

The next week we did a walkabout Hamilton, took in Robyn at the Gown and Gavel and dinner at Janet and Tim’s place in Freelton.

The second weekend in September, Cindy, Caroline and I went up to Stayner to visit George.  He took us on a beautiful hike along the cliffside overlooking some gorgeous parts of Ontario.  After the hike we enjoyed a wine tasting at Roost Winery along with some cheese and chocolate.  The scenery here was the perfect setting for the occasion.  It was now time to drop George off and the girls would have the night to themselves to party hard in Barrie.  Well, we got to the hotel room, opened the wine and never left.  At one point, I happened to mention I was hungry, so we ordered Thai food in and continued to talk and visit the whole night … it was perfect!

During September we also took the time to visit Cambridge which has a pretty downtown near the river.  We walked the waterside trail and stopped in a coffee shop to enjoy a treat.

We did a few walks and hikes, one of which was a walk down Valley Inn Trail.  It has changed so much since I was a child and used to go walking there.  It was a very nice walk in nature now.

It was also special to visit Princess Point, where I had spread my mother’s ashes.

On Sunday the 23rd, we went to hear Aunt Mavis sing for a church service in Binbrook and then continued to enjoy the day in Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-lake.  The weather was perfect.

In our final week we visited African Lion Safari, hiked through Webster Falls and Tew Falls, I visited Caroline in Toronto, Cindy and Maggie in London and we had the family and friends over for a final dinner to clean out our fridge.

Next stop … the US Border!
