New Mexico was great.  We stayed a week at Enchanted Trails RV Park and had a beautiful view of the sunset every night (well except for the rainy days!)  Our first few days were filled with rain.  We took the opportunity to go shopping at Costco, Groceries and do Laundry.

The campground was located right beside Camping World so we took this opportunity to get a few things for the RV that we needed.  Just simple things like a knob for the stove, light bulbs etc.

The rain finally subsided by Thursday and we headed to downtown Albuquerque.  We parked at the old town area and then walked along Central Ave (old route 66), through downtown out to a Route 66 diner.  We shared a Meatloaf lunch and then made the walk back to the old town.  We decided to take a drive to a local casino called Isleta Casino and Resort.  We lost a few bucks and didn’t stay long as it was too smoky.  We bought some local lotto tickets, but we also didn’t win.  I guess the superstition about the itchy right hand isn’t true after all … mine has been itchy all week!

Friday, we took a trip to Santa Fe for the day.  When we arrived, we found an awesome free parking garage at the state capitol building.  We went inside the building and it was a self-guided tour.  There were no scanning devices, no security restricting us, we just go in and wander around.  It was basically a gallery where the local politicians worked.  Two floors of solid art, and great art!

Next was to Santa Fe Plaza, where they sell their jewelry along the sidewalk.  Both Joerg and I have been to Santa Fe before, so this was a nice walk down memory lane.  We picked up a fajita at a local street vendor in the plaza and made our way to Canyon Road.

Canyon Road is the street that is full of galleries and art.  I loved it the first time and it was great this time as well.  We walked to the very end, and then through the park to come back again.  The Fall colours in Santa Fe were great.  There were amazing yellow trees everywhere and we had so much fun taking pictures of it.  We missed fall in Ontario because we left too early, so this was a good compromise.

We finished off our visit to Santa Fe by visiting the SITE Museum and stopping in the Railyard district for a beer in the local pub.

Saturday, we took it easy.  I went out in the morning to the local tennis shop and bought myself some new shoes … very stylish … even if I don’t play well this winter, damn I will look good trying!

Sunday, we hiked the Hawks Watch Trail in the Sandia Mountains.  It wasn’t a long distance hike but it was a steady climb up.  We had some great views from the top.  We got lost coming down (the trail is not marked at all), so we had to scramble through some rough terrain and cactus, but we found the trail again after 15 minutes.

After the hike, we visited a local RV dealership (Le Mesa) and looked inside a  dozen RVs planning for the upgrade in a few years (or if a lotto ticket actually hits!)

Monday we were on the road again. We are stopping at an RV Park just outside Winslow Arizona near the Meteor Crater.
